Exercise Education

Vaughan Community Health Centre offers expert-led exercise programs designed with a focus on preventing and managing chronic conditions. This program provides an opportunity for everyone to learn how to exercise safely and gain confidence in a supervised setting. Group classes focus on core elements such as improving balance and coordination, increasing muscular strength and endurance, along with mobility and flexibility.

Services include:

  • A variety of group exercise classes
  • In-person and virtual options
  • One to one exercise assessment by a Registered Kinesiologist and exercise prescription.

Please note that our exercise programs are educational and are not meant to be a personal training service. Participants must be 19 years of age or older.

This class aims to provide the opportunity for everyone to learn basic yoga postures. Chairs are used to accommodate everyone, including those with physical limitations. ​Yoga goes hand in hand with meditation, which together can improve​ stress, concentration, and overall physical health.

This class is organized in a circuit with a focus on the prevention and management of chronic conditions. Each circuit involves several exercises that will work the entire body . Aims to improve your balance, coordination, muscular strength, endurance, mobility, and flexibility.

Improve your overall strength and endurance with safe and easy to do moments. Gain confidence and ability to progress to more intense programs.

This full body fitness class incorporates resistance training and cardiovascular training all in one. This program is meant to be a “step up” from the other classes available at the Centre.

Learn safe and proper exercise techniques that can be used towards achieving your personal exercise goals.

A sixty-minute integrative class that will work all areas of the body focusing on improving, cardiovascular fitness, strength, coordination, and flexibility.

  • You will be asked to confirm your age (for eligibility).
  • Eligible participants will be booked an appointment (virtual or in-person) to:
    • complete the registration forms.
    • be screened by a Registered Kinesiologist who will ensure you are cleared for group exercise and determine the appropriate program for each eligible participant.

No Show Policy

  • Participants who “no-show” for an exercise class will be called to advise them that the class has been missed.
  • Participants who “no-show” for two or more classes of a specific program will be called to advise them that, should they miss another class, their spot will be given to someone who is on the waiting list.
  • Participants, who do not wish to continue with the exercise program, should notify VCHC staff as soon as possible.
